Church of Saint Anthony Teluk Intan

This campaign is the initiative of the 120 year old Church to raise RM2 Million to rebuild the parish buildings which are in a precarious condition .

 

Description

The Church of St. Anthony, Teluk Intan saw its humble beginning in the year 1894 by the late Fr. Rene Michel Marie Fee of Missions Étrangères de Paris (MEP) or Paris Foreign Missions Society ; which is a Roman Catholic missionary organization. In 2014, we will be celebrating the 120th Anniversary of this historic church.
 
Unfortunately , our aging buildings have been ravished by time with severe termite infestation; creating safety risk to our kindergarten children and the Sunday catechism class students. Furthermore, our church steeple is tilting and the roof require immediate repair works .
 
The challenge for this small parish is to race against time to raise RM 2 million for the building project. To-date , through various fund-raising initiatives for the past 2 years, the church has managed to raise only RM 488,619.98. The longer it takes, the further the damage of the buildings and the higher the cost of the project !
 
Recently, our fears were realized when the entire top floor roof structures of the kindergarten and several other church buildings collapsed during heavy downpour. WE thank the Lord for no one was hurt , as the incident happened late at night when the building was not occupied.
 
With the launch of this Charity Dinner Campaign Drive, we hope to reach out to the generous hearts out there whose contributions would indeed give us “ a ray of hope ” to achieve our mission. All donations in the form of cheques can be made payable to “Church of St. Anthony, Teluk Intan ” .
